The Staplehurst Neighbourhood Plan was formally made in 2016. As part of a continuous review to ensure that the plan remains relevant, the Parish Council and Neighbourhood Plan Review Group recently agreed minor changes and submitted them to Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) for formal approval.

On 6th August 2020, MBC issued its formal decision statement approving the modifications to the plan. This means that the updated plan replaces the 2016 version, becomes part of the statutory development plan for Maidstone Borough and will be used to determine planning applications in the Staplehurst area.
