Staplehurst Parish Council have been looking to provide a Parish logo for some time. The neighbouring local councils of villages and towns around us all have their logos and we were in need of something that represented the community but was different from the rest. Following consultation with the residents for inspiration and ideas, as well as with a local artist, no option seemed to gather consensus.

At a Communications Group meeting, the idea of using one of the designs of the South door of the All-Saint’s church was brought to the table, a Christian and Viking design that seems to have gathered more interest. The door is an 11th century door and tells the Legend of Ragnarök the Norse Day of Judgement. The section selected from the door depicts a sun wheel and, among other meanings, represents metamorphosis and renewal. (Further information can be found in greatenglishchurches.co.uk and the church guide).

Full Council approved the logo and that it should be black and white, to avoid any political interpretations. There would be a second version in white for dark backgrounds.
